Reverse Text
Paste text and turn it around: the whole text backward, the letters of each word backward, or the words on each line in reverse order. The result updates as you type.

Turn text around, three ways
Reversed text is handy for puzzles, games, mirror-writing practice and test data. Paste your text, choose what to reverse, and copy the result. Each character is moved as you see it on screen, so emoji, flags and accented letters never come out broken.
How to use it
- Type or paste your text, up to 5 MB.
- Choose what to reverse. The result updates as you type.
- Read the line above the result: it says what changed.
- Copy the result, or download it as a .txt file.
The three modes
- The whole text: the last character comes first, so “Hello, world!” becomes “!dlrow ,olleH”. With several lines, the last line also comes first. A line break at the very end stays at the end.
- The letters of each word: every word stays in its place with its letters backward, and spaces and punctuation stay put, so “Hello, world!” becomes “olleH, dlrow!”. A word is a run of letters and digits, with any apostrophe inside it, as in “don’t”.
- The order of the words: on each line, the last word comes first and the spaces stay where they were, so “one two three” becomes “three two one”. Punctuation moves with the word it touches, and a no-break space keeps two words together.
Emoji, flags and accents
A flag is two letter symbols, a hand with a skin tone is two codes, and an é can be an e followed by a separate accent mark. Reversing the codes would break them, or turn one flag into another. This tool follows Unicode’s rules for what counts as one character on screen, so each of these moves as one piece.
Good to know
- Lines stay put in two modes. Reversing letters or the order of words never moves a line; only the whole-text mode does.
- Reversed text hides nothing. Anyone can turn it back in seconds, so don’t use it to keep anything private.
- Screen readers can’t make sense of it, so keep reversed text out of anything people need to read or hear.
- Need lines in reverse order? Sort Lines can put the last line first without changing the lines themselves: choose “Reverse the order (last line first)”. This page has no mode that changes only the order of lines.
- Nothing leaves your device. The text is never sent anywhere or saved.
