Notepad
Jot something down and come back to it later. Each note saves itself as you type, in this browser only, and downloads as a text file whenever you like.
Saved on this device. Your notes are kept in this browser’s own storage, not sent anywhere. They aren’t encrypted, so anyone who uses this browser can read them: don’t keep passwords here. Export a copy, or delete everything, at any time.

Notes that save as you type
A notepad for things you need to keep for a while: a packing list, an idea, what was said on a phone call. Each note saves itself a moment after you stop typing, and it’s still here the next time you open this page in the same browser. There’s no account to make.
How to use it
- Type in the Title and Note boxes. “Saved” appears under the note once your words are stored.
- Press New note to start another, up to 20. Notes are listed newest first; select one to open it.
- Press Download as .txt to keep a copy of the open note as a text file.
- Press Export all now and then to download every note in one backup file.
- To delete a note, open it and press Delete this note, then press it again to confirm.
What’s kept, and where
Notes are kept in this browser’s own storage on this device, and nothing is sent anywhere. That cuts both ways. They’re private from us and from other websites, but they aren’t encrypted: anyone who uses this browser can open this page and read them. Don’t keep passwords, card numbers or anything secret here. If your browser blocks storage for this site, the page says so, and your notes then last only until you close it.
Backups and other devices
- Export all saves every note, with its title and dates, as one JSON file.
- Import backup reads that file back, here or in another browser. If there are notes here already, it asks before replacing them.
- Delete all removes every note from this browser after a second press. Clearing your browser’s data for this site removes them too.
Good to know
- Plain text only: no formatting, links or pictures, so a note looks the same wherever you open it.
- Limits: 20 notes, each up to 50,000 characters.
- Two tabs: if the notepad is open in two tabs, each picks up the other’s saved changes, and what you’re typing isn’t lost.
- Counts: words and characters follow the same rules as the Word and Character Counter. Spaces count as characters; line breaks don’t.
- Spell check is off in the boxes, because some browsers’ enhanced spell check sends what you type to their servers.
- Need a checklist instead? The To-Do List lets you tick tasks off. To tidy a pasted list, try Remove Duplicate Lines.
