Remote Time-Zone Overlap

Add each person’s time zone and working hours to see when everyone is at work at the same time, shown in each person’s own local time. What you type stays in your browser.

Find the hours your whole team shares

On a remote team spread over several time zones, the hours when everyone is at work can be short, or not exist at all. Finding them by converting times in your head is slow and easy to get wrong, especially around daylight saving changes. This tool takes each person’s time zone and working hours and shows the shared window in everyone’s local time, ready to paste into a meeting invitation.

    How to use it

    1. Pick a date in the week you’re planning for; time-zone differences can change with the season.
    2. For each person, choose their time zone by city and set their working hours. Start typing a city to find it.
    3. Add up to six people. The overlap updates as you go, in each person’s own time.

    Reading the result

The result lists every stretch of time when everyone is inside their working hours, with its length, and the same stretch in each person’s local time. If the first person’s working day spans two days for someone else, the date is shown next to their times. If there’s no shared time at all, the tool says so.

    Examples

    • New York and London, both working 9 to 5, usually share three hours: New York’s morning is London’s afternoon. For a week or two each spring and autumn, when one city has changed its clocks and the other hasn’t, the gap shifts by an hour.
    • Los Angeles and Sydney share only a sliver: late afternoon in Los Angeles is early the next morning in Sydney.
    • Berlin and Los Angeles, both 9 to 5, don’t overlap at all; moving one start time by an hour or two makes a short window.

Making the most of a small overlap

    • Protect it: keep the shared hours for meetings that need everyone, and move the rest to written updates.
    • Rotate the pain: if someone always joins early or late, take turns.
    • Record and summarize meetings for anyone who can’t make it.

    One person’s time, converted

To convert a single meeting time between zones, the Time Zone Converter is quicker. This tool is for finding when a whole group overlaps.

    Frequently asked questions

Does it handle daylight saving time?
Yes. It uses your browser’s own time-zone data for the date you pick, so clock changes are taken into account. Pick a date in the week you’re planning for, especially in March, April, October and November, when clocks change in many places.
    What if there’s no overlap?
Then no time falls inside everyone’s working hours. Try widening someone’s hours by an hour or two, or plan the meeting to rotate, so the early or late slot doesn’t always fall on the same people.
    Can someone work night hours?
Yes. Hours that run past midnight, such as 22:00 to 06:00, work as expected.
    Is anything saved?
No. The times are worked out on this page, on your device, and nothing is kept.
